Meet the Participants - Y1 2024 - Clean Planet Peninsula

We are thrilled to unveil a short video introducing the incredible 20 participants of the #CleanPlanetPeninsula project! 🌍✨ Meet passionate researchers and environmental advocates from across the UK who are joining us on this groundbreaking journey. Together, we will explore the pristine Polar regions and uncover the impact of microplastics on our planet's most remote environments. ❄️🌊 This is just the beginning of a 3-year expedition aimed at advancing scientific understanding and raising awareness about the crucial issue of microplastics and their effects on human health and the environment. 🌱💧 Here are some exciting stats about this year's participants: 65% female participants 70% focused on microplastics research 20% from low-income backgrounds Representing 10 different academic institutions across the UK 9 different nationalities A huge thank you to our partners, @EducationThroughExpeditions, our expedition leader @AntonyJinman, and our dedicated instructors. We are honored to collaborate with @Prof Fay Couceiro and the Revolution Plastics Institute as our scientific lead. This project is proudly sponsored by the Clean Planet Foundation. Your contributions are vital to the success of this project, and we can't wait to see the amazing discoveries that lie ahead. Clean Planet Peninsula

The Clean Planet Foundation, polar adventurer Antony Jinman Ed.D, and the University of Portsmouth: Revolution Plastics Institute, have launched the Clean Planet Peninsula project to provide early-career scientists with fieldwork experience and undertake scientific research about the impact of microplastics on Polar Regions. 

The initiative offers cost-effective training, remote fieldwork camps, and expeditions, focusing on plastic pollution and climate change impacts. The project aims to empower the next generation of polar scientists to tackle urgent environmental challenges and contribute to global conservation efforts.

Tree Seed Collection

A collaborative endeavour with Woodland Trust Scotland and Trees for Life, the Clean Planet Foundation are the largest private backer of the project.focuses on the critical task of collecting and verifying seeds for at least 1,000,000 trees.

In addition, Clean Planet Foundation's documentary "Behind The Trees", focusing on this incredible work wins over 10 major film festival awards (including in Cannes).
