In April 2026, Clean Planet Technologies will commission the world’s first pilot facility dedicated to converting hard-to-recycle waste plastics into Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The facility will demonstrate Clean Planet Technologies’ proprietary, patented Plastics-to-SAF (P2SAF) process at pilot scale. It is designed to support fuel testing and validation, and to enable progression through the ASTM qualification pathway, with support from the UK SAF Clearing House.
Why this matters
Non-recyclable waste plastics represent a significant environmental challenge. Through advanced conversion technologies, these materials can be transformed into low-carbon aviation fuel that is compatible with today’s aircraft and existing fuel infrastructure.
This pilot facility represents a critical step towards scaling circular, non-biogenic SAF pathways and supporting the UK’s long-term Net Zero aviation ambitions.
