A Clean Planet Year in Review - 2022

As 2022 draws to a close, we wanted to take a step back to recap and reflect on another incredible year at Clean Planet Energy.

2022 was the year we made a number of global announcements, introduced significant partnerships, grew our incredible team, and patented game-changing technology to support a more sustainable and circular world.

Here's a snapshot (non-exhaustive!) of our year working to meet our company mission to remove over 1 Million tonnes of plastic waste from our environment, every year.

Let's go:

bp and Clean Planet Energy logos

The year couldn’t have started better, with Clean Planet Energy announcing a 10-year offtake agreement with Bp a world-leading energy company to advance the circular plastics economy world-wide.

KW Plastics and RePower South logos

During the year, we also announced two key partnerships with some of the biggest players for feedstock: Repower South and the world’s largest plastics recycler, KW Plastics. Both agreements were to support the growing number of ecoplants in development in the USA.

A proud moment in 2022 came in September, when Clean Planet Energy were granted their patent for the process and technology underlying the upgrading pyrolysis oil into circular petrochemical feedstocks and also into ultra-low sulphur fuels.

Partner logos of ISCC, BPF and Recoup

Through the year, our advocacy and industry status grew after being accepted as members of key organisations focusing on sustainability credentials, such as the ISCC, the British Plastic Foundation, and Recoup.

Clean Planet Energy and Crossroads logo

In addition to our exciting North American joint venture with FTAI Infrastructure Inc. (Nasdaq: FIP) announced at the very end of 2021, Clean Planet announced a new joint venture with private equity firm Crossroads Real Estate to fund Clean Planet Energy’s flagship ecoPlant, currently under construction in Teesside, Northeast England. This will be the first of 10 new ecoPlants that Crossroads Real Estate and Clean Planet Energy are jointly seeking to build and operate across the UK. This new joint venture could lead to over £400m of new UK investment deployed for the future construction of these facilities.

CPE announced a number of new job openings at the start of the year with a new careers page, and then in December opened a new office in Houston, Texas (USA), expanding our team with more like-minded people. We welcome them all to our journey to make the world a cleaner place (more about new team members in 2023)!

Sophie, the 2022 Engineering Intern

Finally, the Engineering team successfully continued CPE's Engineering Internship Programme, and with that, we welcomed another year (thanks Sophie!)

So there we go!

This is only a small snapshot of the successes in 2022 for Clean Planet Energy. We didn't even have time to feature the continuation of our not-for-profit comic book HAPSIE where 6* 250-page hardback comic books have now been published, or some of our speaking slots at conferences this year, or our latest TV advert about the dangers of micro-plastics... but the end-of-year mood is setting in, and we need to go prepare the nibbles for Saturday (31/12).

----- -----

Next year we're looking forward to working with our new team & investors, announcing new opportunities and welcoming even more new meaningful partners.

The Clean Planet Energy Team

Facing turbulent times globally- resilience, humbleness, and determination to meet our goals are a few of the values we stand for. Our team are our greatest asset, and with this, we want to thank you all for your support, inspiring hard work, feedback, and sharing the same passion for cleaner air and cleaner oceans.

We commit to you, the environment, (and our shareholders) to build more ecoPlants worldwide and never forget how we opened this end of year message, with our mission of removing 1 million tonnes of plastic waste from the environment every year. One step forward in 2022!

Have a safe and healthy end of 2022 and sustainable 2023.
