#BeatPlasticPollution - Reflecting on World Environment Day

Today marks a significant event in the global environmental calendar: World Environment Day. This year, the theme is a cause that resonates deeply with us here at Clean Planet Group, it's #BeatPlasticPollution.

On this day, we wish to share our journey, our mission, and how we're contributing to beating plastic pollution one step at a time.

Our Mission

Since our inception in 2018, Clean Planet Group has had a singular vision: Clean Air, Clean Oceans, Clean Planet. Our mission - to remove over 1 million tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastic waste from our environment, every year. It's the force that drives every decision we make, every project we undertake, every ecoPlant we build, and every technology we develop.

The Plastic Waste Problem

Plastic pollution is a complex, global problem. Each year, over 200 million tonnes of plastic end up in landfill, incineration, or worst of all, our oceans. Many of these plastics are not currently easily recyclable, further exacerbating the problem. Plastic is not the problem, but plastic waste - a lack infrastructure that creates plastic But at Clean Planet Energy, we believe in turning problems into opportunities. Just see how bad the problem is:

Clean Planet Energy's Solution

In Clean Planet Energy, We've taken on the challenge of hard-to-recycle plastics, developing infrastructure and proprietary technologies that tackle this issue head-on. Our ecoPlants are testament to this commitment. These facilities are designed to process 20,000 tonnes of hard-to-recycle waste plastics each year, converting them into valuable resources.

Creating Circular Solutions

But we're not just transforming plastic waste into a problem of the past; we're also creating circular solutions for the future. Our ecoPlants produce ultra-low-carbon fuels and circular naphtha. These are used to make products like ultra-low sulfur diesel, circular naphtha (to make new plastics from traditionally hard-to-recycle plastic waste), ultra-low sulfur fuel oil, and sustainable aviation fuel.

Our Proprietary Technologies

Clean Planet Technologies develops the technologies we employ in our ecoPlants include Pyrolysis and our patented SAFe Hydroprocessing Technology. These methods allow us to handle a wide variety of plastic types, many of which are not widely recycled by traditional services.

Clean Planet Foundation

The Clean Planet Foundation (CPF) is another arm of the Clean Planet Group that focuses on education and action for sustainable use of plastics and carbon emissions reduction. Believing that everyone deserves better, CPF provides community funding, sponsorship, and investments, and initiates projects to mitigate the impact of the plastic and climate crises across the UK and beyond1.

Reflecting on World Environment Day

As we reflect World Environment Day and commit ourselves to #BeatPlasticPollution, we are proud of the strides we have made. However, we understand that this is a journey, not a destination. Our efforts towards a cleaner planet are ongoing, and every day brings new opportunities for innovation and progress.

A Collective Effort

We also recognize that our mission is not one we can achieve alone. It requires the collective effort of individuals, communities, businesses, and governments around the world.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

As a part of Clean Planet Group, we remain committed to our mission. We're constantly exploring new technologies, building more ecoPlants, and working towards a future where plastic waste and carbon emissions are properly managed and maybe one-day a thing of the past.

Our Vision for the Future

We look forward to the day when the hashtag #BeatPlasticPollution is a celebration of a mission accomplished rather than a call to arms. Until then, we will continue to work relentlessly, innovating and growing while staying true to our vision of a Clean Air, Clean Oceans, Clean Planet.

A Sombre Reality, A Hopeful Future

We acknowledge the sombre reality of our world's environmental challenges. The scale of the problem can feel overwhelming, but there is also hope and progress. Our work is a testament to the change we can achieve when we channel innovation, determination, and collective effort towards a common goal.

Today, as we reflect on the state of our environment, let's also recognise the power we hold to change it. Let's #BeatPlasticPollution, not just today, but every day. Together, we can build a future where every day is World Environment Day, a future where the air is clean, the oceans are clear, and the planet thrives.
